I have been working on a whole new creative project. Plenty of energy and enthusiasm being spent. A great deal of productive time making new things. Bouncing my ideas off of others within a coaching group. But every time I embark on a whole new journey of making, I’ve found myself becoming angry.
Each and every this happen? Precisely what is this anger about? What’s going on?
My mentor i were discussing this. She wondered aloud this thought: “It sounds like the tender spots are what your location is angry”… yeah. Very tender. The anger is telling me something.
Finding that it is hard to maintain a job using anger all around, I wanted to find away out to function “through” or “around” the anger. So, I distract myself with painting, stories, dancing… something creative, but more mundane along with a bit mindless. This creative energy loosens my mind so that I will “trick” my anger into thinking We are busy with things.
While i do that I refer to it as “spinning”. Spinning jogs my memory in the stories with the spinning wheel where I can outside, hurry up creating (such as the wool about the wheel). This opens the door to metaphor and takes me far from my have to “control” a project.
When I began drawing this image… of the spinning wheel… I was thinking of “turning straw to gold”. I became reminded again from the story of Rumpelstilskin. You realize, normally the one… the millers daughter, the daddy says “she can spin straw into gold” to the king… along with the king desires to understand this… and when she cannot, she’ll be put to death… ? Then, an unusual little man appears. He tells her he is able to spin straw into gold… however it will be at an amount to her.
I found the tale and study several versions than it. It resonated beside me. However, as I usually do, Cleaning it once a to logically “organize” the storyline. This caused me to be more frustrated, when i was not seeing or feeling what this story was wanting to inform me.
I really returned to my “dream capture” work. Someone said the tale just as if it were a goal I had created had. Then, Used to the next:
Listed out each of the characters
Listed out your “key words” in the story that resonated with me
Re-read each word and wrote what that word meat in my opinion in my current situation
Then… I began to notice what are the story was saying. This is what I ran across
The miscroscopic man (Rumplestilskin)=anger/creative fire/naming
The miller’s daughter=rest/creativity/giving
Spnning wheel=creating/spinning/asking for help
The baby=creation (project, artwork… )
While all these “characters” has an independent role, Each of the characters create one “psyche” to me. Just about everyone has of these qualities within us.
To make something, it will require much energy… and far rest is also needed. We should give of ourselves and request for help.
Eventually, an infant exists and we will not stop. It’s our “creation” and we’re amazed at that which you have made. Also, what can be done to get there.
What did I learn?
This story resonates when camping. Also, this story will repeat itself repeatedly because i continue to create, rest, other people and handle a project. Although Rumpelstilskin stomps himself into the ground after the story, that little man will likely be back… and then suddenly time, I will know his name.
